Twenty Fourteen has proven to be a delightful year to be out in the country. Overnight rains have greened up the woods. The fires nearby have driven the wildlife over near the cottages. Many bunnies are hopping around, even found a nest of baby bunnies under a tree! We have a deer that has been around alot but don’t try to take his picture, we call him “Colonel Flagg” because he is so good at disappearing. We are excited to have so many out of state guests with us this year. Yet it is so much fun to be great hide-away for you locals too. Check-out our new website for great ideas for your next “getaway”! www.AaronsGate.com
The sun is setting on a very exciting day for Guthrie, Oklahoma. Mumford and Sons tickets went on sale today for their Gentlemen of the Road Tour 2013. They will be performing in Guthrie at Cottonwood Flats on September 6th and 7th! For a weekend concert like this, a lot of overnight accommodations are needed. Three lucky couples scooped up Aaron’s Gate before noon! Meadowlark Barn is available for Saturday, the 7th as of this writing.
30 minutes south, The Arcadian Inn has limited availability with luxurious guestsuites and breakfast served privately in your room, and jacuzzi tub for two. Check the website and the availability to see what is left for that weekend. It’s a hot ticket!

It’s a great time to grab your favorite cold drink (a Route 44 Vanilla Dr. Pepper) and head out to the trees. The Cicadas are singing loud and clear as the night falls. Then the frogs from the pond join them. Clear skies twinkle with stars! All the things you don’t get hanging out at Target.
Bring along some charcoal, (we are not red-flagged this year!) and grill some steaks, corn on the cob, maybe a few shrimp. Dip up some Ice Cream. (Secret…you could start early on that Vanilla Butter Sauce in the fridge…it’s great on ice cream too! Just be sure to leave some for breakfast!)

Baby, it”s hot outside! Perfect time to stay inside and hold one another, work on a puzzle, watch a beach movie, perfect a recipe, or sit in the outdoor spa and watch the finches twitter about.
Aaron’s Gate Country Getaways are great indoor country getaways. With large windows looking out into the woods, you get the best of both worlds.
Slip off to some cool antique shopping in Guthrie or visit a museum.
Also early in the day or later in the evening, you might enjoy a comfortable massage.

Gary and I went into Guthrie last evening for dinner at the Stables. We love their onion “rings”. On the way back to Aaron’s Gate, we saw the horizon lighting up as the moon began to rise. We sat on the bridge over I-35, watching this GIANT moon come over up over the horizon. He seemed to be winking at us as he rose.
Do you live where it is hard to see the stars? These cold winter nights, the stars shine brighter than ever out at Aaron’s Gate. Looking up through the trees from your hot tub, the stars twinkle like diamonds. Your own field of diamonds.
